They inherited the orthodox craftsmanship of Bizen ware from their grandfather, Toshu Yamamoto (named living national treasure), and their father, Izuru Yamamoto (a holder of the title of Important Intangible Cultural Asset in Okayama). The brothers are continually searching for innovative ways to adapt Bizen ware to fit with modern lifestyles.
